Resolute Support commander condemns attack in Kabul

5 Sep 2016
KABUL, Afghanistan (Sept. 5, 2016) — Resolute Support strongly condemns the Taliban's suicide attack near the Ministry of Defense today.

"We offer our deepest condolences to the individuals and their families who have been affected by today's attacks," said Resolute Support Commander, Gen. John W. Nicholson. "This attack shows the contempt the Taliban have for human life in Afghanistan and for those who commit themselves daily to defending the Afghan people. The Taliban have no plan for the development of Afghanistan. Targeting civilians as well as those who defend their fellow citizens directly contradicts the Taliban's earlier promise to protect the civilians population and does nothing to advance the cause of peace."

Resolute Support will continue to work with the Government of Afghanistan in their efforts to bring peace and stability to Afghanistan.
