Italian soldiers celebrate National Day
On June 5, at the headquarters of the NATO-led Resolute Support mission, the Italian contingent celebrated the 70th anniversary of the Italian Republic.

KABUL, Afghanistan (June 8, 2016) — The Italian contingent at Resolute Support here celebrated the 70th anniversary of the Italian Republic June 5.
The military ceremony was chaired by the highest ranking military authority in Afghanistan, Maj. Gen. Pietro Tornabene, deputy chief of staff support of the mission and Italian senior national representative.
Italian Ambassador His Excellency Roberto Cantone; Deputy Commander of the mission United Kingdom Lt. Gen. Sandy Storrie; Deputy Senior Civilian Representative Dr. Robert Murphy all participated in the event, together with several civil and military authorities.
The Italian flag was raised at the central pole of the main square of the camp, surrounded by the NATO flag, the Afghan flag and the flag of the other 38 countries that contribute to the Resolute Support mission.
