Command Sgt. Maj. David M. Clark (USA)

Senior Enlisted Leader RSM/USFOR-APrior to becoming the Resolute Support/U.S. Forces – Afghanistan senior enlisted leader, Clark served as the command sergeant major of the United States Military Academy at West Point.
 
A native of Knoxville, Tenn., he enlisted in the U.S. Army in November 1984.
 
He attended One Station Unit Training as a combat engineer (12B) at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. He has held numerous leadership positions, including team leader, squad leader, operations sergeant, platoon sergeant, senior drill sergeant, senior battle staff instructor, first sergeant, chief of Drill Sergeant School, battalion command sergeant major, brigade command sergeant major, 4th Infantry Division command sergeant major, and USMA command sergeant major.
 
Clark served with the 2nd Infantry Division, 3rd Infantry Division (three tours), 4th Infantry Division (two tours), and the 25th Infantry Division (two tours). He is a graduate of the Primary Noncommissioned Officers Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officers Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officers Course, Battle Staff Course, Drill Sergeant School, Sapper Leader Course, Air Assault Course, First Sergeant Course, United States Army Sergeant Major Academy, Command Sergeant Major Course, Force Management Course, Keystone Course, Legal Orientation Course, and the Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education Course. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from Troy University and a Masters in Human Resource Management from Webster University.
 
He participated in Operation Desert Storm with the 10th Engineer Battalion, 3rd ID as a squad leader; Operation Iraqi Freedom I with 317th Engineer Battalion and 3rd ID as first sergeant; Operation Enduring Freedom V with 65th Engineer Battalion and 25th ID as the battalion sergeant major; Operation Iraqi Freedom V with 3rd BSTB, 25th ID as the battalion command sergeant major; Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom as the 18th Engineer Brigade command sergeant major; and, Operation Enduring Freedom as the CJTF-4/RC South command sergeant major.
 
His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Bronze Star Medal with "V" Device and four Oak Leaf Clusters, Meritorious Service Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal with one Silver Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Achievement Medal with one Silver Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Good Conduct Medal (10th award), National Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Star, Southwest Asia Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with one Bronze Star, Iraq Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, NATO Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait), and the Joint Meritorious Unit Award. He also earned the Combat Action Badge, Drill Sergeant Badge, Air Assault Badge, Sapper Tab, the Bronze Order of the de Fleury Medal (Silver), Order of Saint George, Order of Saint Maurice, and German Armed Forces Badge (Gold). He is a member of the prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Club.
 
Command Sergeant Major Clark is married and has four children.
